This ain’t no fruit bomb. It opens up with what appears to be a fair amount of reduction. Camp fires, snapped twigs, black spice and rhubarb take precedence over sour red cherry fruits.
Savoury with a core of granite minerality. The finish is extensive with dried herbs and cinders lingering. Acidity carries the wine but there is a touch of chalk-dust tannin chipping in at the end. A wine of intrigue; no brash displays of ripeness here. Comes into its own with the right food. A mushroom and thyme risotto worked for me. 90 Good
