2011 Last Horizon Tamar Valley Pinot Noir

last-hori-pinot-noirTruly exciting Pinot Noirs at around the twenty dollar mark are few and far between but this little number nails the brief beautifully. It’s not falling over itself to be your friend. An at times challenging but always compelling personality eventually wears you down. And then you’re happy you put in the effort.

Gun smoke, stalks, snapped twigs and bitter herbs as much as cherries and wilted flowers. The bouquet is a ride in itself. A ripeness of red fruit allows all that complexity to work without over-riding what is, at the end of the day, a very tasty drink. Loaded with spice too. No need to wait on this one, it has everything going for it already. Do yourself a favour and embark on the adventure. 93 Very Good
