The Lovedale Vineyard, planted to Semillon by Maurice O’Shea in 1946 must surely rank amongst the greatest sites in Australia. Its sandy aggregate loam soils have produced so many amazing wines.
This release is still brimming with youthful energy. On opening, it’s almost terse as it paces with pent-up energy. Lime driven intensity slowly makes room for nuts, aniseed notes, marmalade and the bare bones of toast, lanolin and curd. Pristine minerality on an enduring finish. Who knows how good this will become over time? For now it’s startlingly primary. 94+ Excellent
