2010 Kooyong Faultline Chardonnay

kooyong faultline chard“Darling, darling, doesn’t have a problem
Lying to herself
Cos her liquor’s top shelf” – Lana Del Rey

I’ve made contact with someone at Kooyong/Port Phillip Estate in order to request samples so I can cover their wines more thoroughly. In the meantime I just grabbed this off the shelf at retail…’cos I can justify things far too easily.

This is a ripper. Full of verve and oh so precise in its delivery. Yellow peach, nectarine, mandarin rind and honeysuckle on the nose. So much quartz and flinty minerality powering through an intense and resolute line. A hint of quinine complexes the sustained finish. Enough flesh to hold onto but svelte and fine-boned all the same. Yes now, yes later. 95 Excellent

  1. GW says:

Yes. It’s a lovely wine. Kooyong single bits of vineyard whites much better than Kooying single bits of vineyard reds for me.

  2. Hopefully I’ll get to taste the single bit reds soon…but yes, it’s the Chardonnay that rings the bells for me in general.
