2003 Tahbilk 1927 Vines Marsanne

tahbilk 1927 old vinesEven though it’s released with a good degree of bottle age, the best place for Tahbilk’s 1927 Vines Marsanne has always been the cellar. It’s made in a different style to the standard Tahbilk Marsanne and demands a minimum of ten years before it starts to show its real worth. Such a shame then that in the past I’ve consumed so many bottles that have suffered from oxidation. Happily, there will no longer be such issues as it’s finally under screwcap. Huzzah!

This one’s tight and fresh, with wax and toasty notes just beginning to enter the frame. Orange citrus with a little honeysuckle hanging in there. Flinty and linear for now with layers and complexity to come for those with the patience to leave it alone for another five to ten years. 93+ Very Good – Excellent
