One block of Piper’s River Pinot Noir provides the fruit for this Sparkling Rosé from Jansz. It’s not a wine you see a lot of on retail shelves and that’s a real shame as far as I’m concerned. It possesses delicacy, depth and poise.
Three years on lees has added shortbread characters along with increased weight and texture without over-powering a nimble mouthfeel which allows the wine to fairly dance across the palate. It smells of strawberries, sweet earth/truffles, floral notes, red cherry and spice. The dosage is pitched perfectly, contributing a touch of spun sugar sweetness to the creamy mid-palate before a persistent dry finish with just a hint of grip. 93 Very Good – Excellent
