2006 Pewsey Vale The Contours Riesling

We’ve ticked over to the 2007 release of ‘The Contours’ now but seeing as I was kindly sent this and haven’t reviewed it yet, I’ll get a note up now. There’s still a bit available if you hunt around. I’ll get onto the current vintage as soon as I can.

Generosity and bottle aged characters are on display but those beautiful Eden Valley citrus blossom and jasmine notes are still very much part of the bouquet. Ripe limes and lemons cut through a rounded and slightly broad palate, imparting the necessary life to balance the richer honey, toast and lanolin traits that are entering the fray. A hint of kerosene perhaps, but nothing overly distracting.  The back-palate throws up some gin and tonic bitterness and a suggestion of herbs which I personally think are a stamp of this wine and the site. Intriguing drinking with years left should you wish to follow its evolution further. 92 Very Good
