I had the pleasure of consuming a bottle of 2010 Luke Lambert Yarra Valley Syrah with the man himself earlier this year. Unassuming, self-deprecating and down to earth fella. Impossible not to enjoy his company. The wine was excellent as well. This 2006 has just entered its drinking window but it will improve for a number of years yet.
A core of vivacious granite accented acidity has now been encased by the flesh of bottle age, resulting in a wine matching energy and detail to supple and fascinating textural traits. It smells of black cherries, Provencal herbs, forest berries, roses, truffled earth and crushed brown spice. Medium bodied and savoury with stemmy tannin perfectly in tune with the plentiful primary fruit still on display. Prettiness and substance in one package. 94+ Excellent
