2010 Wirra Wirra RSW Shiraz

Quite different to any RSW I’ve tasted before. If it’s a stylistic manoeuver then I applaud it. The oak feels more at home and the fruit has greater verve. It’s still an intense and rich wine with layered complexity; tightly bound and structured, it will need time to reach its potential. But the quality is already clear.

Smells of cloves, polished floor boards, mulberries, blueberries and plums. Almonds and licorice as well. Complex spice, savoury earthen foils and mocha. So much going on in the glass but the balance is bang on. Tannin is significant, ripe and powerful. Just got better and better over three days of tasting. Will improve for a long time yet. Standing ovation in order. 94+ Excellent
