Well, turns out there’s 2% Viognier in this savoury, spicy minx but I didn’t pick it up while tasting. How clumsy of me. Plenty of violet florals and textural nous. Some toned down whole bunch work in evidence but it’s not a stalky wine.
Succulent red and dark cherries, ferrous qualities, star anise, nutmeg and white pepper aromatics. You could smell this all day – it’s just that sort of wine. Terrific fruit purity surrounds an earthen, mineral core which spreads its tendrils far and wide. Tannins anchor the finish in a dramatic manner. Medium bodied, with plenty of depth and finesse. I’m a big fan. 94 Excellent
