The inaugural sparkling release from Hoddles Creek is a zesty, exuberant affair. It possesses a linearity and exactness that is compelling, but 24 months on lees has added some attractive complexity. Still, the focus is on quality fruit rather than autolysis derived character.
It smells and tastes of lemons, almonds, raw cashews and sea spray mostly. Brisk and nimble in the mouth but the texture is fine. Impressive, dry length too. At present, it’s more an aperitif style (although it paired very well with some fresh Kangaroo Island oysters). I reckon it needs some more time in the bottle and at that point it should rate higher again. 91+ Good
