2008 Seppelt St Peters Shiraz

I’ve tasted this wine twice this month, once in passing and once over a fair deal of time. On neither occasion have I come away impressed.

The fruit is swathed in saw dust oak but from what I can make out, it’s fairly generic fruit anyway. It’s chocolatey and plummy…and rather clumsy. Some cedar and brown spice are in the mix. Clunky tannins and a real sense of flatness; totally devoid of dynamics on the palate. Time could prove me wrong but there’s nothing I find personally attractive here. Especially given the price. 88 Good
