The new release Yalumba 2012 Y Series whites are excellent value. The 2011 reds haven’t been quite as convincing. It’s pretty clear that the vintage conditions are the main culprit.
This smells herbal and leafy with cherry/berry fruit backing it up. Hints of vanilla too. The tomato-like acidity is tart and pokes out, posing some real problems. Sandy tannin on the back palate. A cool, wet vintage wine and one that I’m only luke-warm on myself. 86 Average
