2011 Oakridge Local Vineyard Series Guerin Vineyard Yarra Valley Pinot Noir

Turns out this one was from Gladysdale in the Yarra Valley – the coolest site in the Local Vineyard Series Yarra Valley wines. I had it pegged as the second coolest. Not too bad, I hope. There’s density here but it’s matched to mouth tingling acidity. Has a fair amount of character, which I really enjoyed.

Smoked meats, cherries and rose petals with hints of cinnamon and cola. Quartz-like minerality bursts through from the mid-palate through to the finish. Crushed brown spice on exit. Maybe even a hint of dill. Tannin slowly asserts itself. Lovely wine. 92 Very Good
