2011 Oakridge Local Vineyard Series Denton Vineyard Yarra Valley Pinot Noir

My pick blind as the second warmest site. And a pick in which I had little faith. Has vegetal, forest like characters that I might almost have considered to be whole bunch related – but I’ve checked, there’s no whole bunch in here. I didn’t know at the time of tasting and reviewing but it’s from a vineyard near the Yarra Glen area of the Yarra Valley.

Beetroot and rhubarb join the expected red fruits (cherry and raspberry). It’s lighter in body than the Oakridge Vineyard wine and has a bit more tannin in its structural make-up. Sappy with liberal spice. I never really felt the whole came together over two days tasting. Maybe with time… 89+ Good
