2012 Shaw + Smith Sauvignon Blanc

Is Shaw + Smith’s Sauvignon Blanc the most popular premium Australian expression in this country? I have no statistics but I suspect so. This one’s from a good vintage and it’s a succesful wine. Not really my sort of thing but for those who love it, the 2012 won’t disappoint.

Some pungency but not the same level as Marlborough Savys. Grass more than herbs, slightly unripe passionfruit and a pleasing suggestion of smokiness. It’s crisp yet gentle through the mid-palate. Decent length too (although I doubt most of those that buy it care that much). A bit missionary position but an adept performance nonetheless. 91 Good – Very Good
