2011 A.Rodda Murrummong Vineyard Yarra Valley Chardonnay

The second Chardonnay released under the A.Rodda banner and this time it’s sourced from a vineyard planted in 1999 at Gruyere in the Yarra Valley. More of a resemblance to the interpretations Adrian Rodda made during his time with David Bicknell at Oakridge here.

Finesse, subtlety and detail is the name of the game. Minimal oak interference, a wiry and light frame and great persistence. It’s linear and taut with lemon and grapefruit the main players flavour-wise. There are murmurs of almonds and hazelnuts, melon and perhaps a touch of lees influenced sourdough. The finish is all driving slate. Could rate higher again with time. 92+ Very Good
