A lighter, fresher, more fluid Patchwork than the 2008 and all the better for it. The name refers to the grapes being sourced from numerous vineyards throughout the Barossa floor and (I suspect) higher altitude Eden Valley areas.
There’s still plenty of plummy plushness but boysenberry and other bright fruits add a relaxed levity to proceedings. Smooth dark chocolate oak doesn’t smother the fruit and there’s more than a few twists of pepper on the back palate. Fine, wood-grain tannin adds refreshment. An attractive proposition, particularly given its price point. Will certainly hold for a few more years and could even pick up a bit of worthwhile complexity in the future. Good – Very Good
