McLaren Vale Shiraz can be so satisfying and enjoyable when the vintage gods smile and the grapes are vinified sensitively. Both of those conditions have been met here. It’s regional, ripe and fulsome but avoids being cumbersome, soupy or plodding.
Blue and black fruited with floral notes and excellently pitched mocha oak. Depth and layers along with energy and verve. Sweet but not over the top and the spice continues that theme; nutmeg, cinnamon, anise and pepper. The sense of balance, composure and generosity see it drinking well now but the structure also ensures improvement with a stint in the cellar. More-ish. Very Good – Excellent
