2010 Oakridge Local Vineyard Series Oakridge Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Have I mentioned that I really dig Yarra Cabernet? On a purely personal level, I’ll take a good Yarra Cab over Coonawarra or the Margaret River any day. I find them much more intriguing and enjoyable to drink.

Elegance and restraint maketh the wine. Blackberry merges into cassis with mulberry notes emerging over time. Bright acids and long, gummy tannin. Vanillin oak is in evidence but it’s very much in the background. Crushed violets contribute to the charming fragrance exuded. It flows well, no major gaps in the line. Appropriately spiced but no more than that; a mix of cinnamon, pepper and clove. Medium bodied and eminently comfortable in its own skin. Very Good – Excellent
