2010 Faux Pas Adelaide Hills Tempranillo

Liam Van Pelt works at the ‘Chapel Hill’ winery in McLaren Vale but in his spare time he’s got his own little venture – Faux Pas Wines. It’s a collaborative effort involving with two friends hailing from the Clare Valley and the Adelaide Hills. Colin McBryde and Jen Gardner of ‘Some Young Punks’ and ‘Adelina’ fame have also helped this young troupe out. Great to see such camaraderie.

It’s a more than tidy and highly smashable Tempranillo they’ve knocked up here. Smooth, supple and almost creamy but not without some peaks of acidity. Medium bodied with spiced red fruits, cola, dry earth and bitter tamarillo. There’s a smattering of refreshing dusty tannin on the finish. Drinking gear it is and well made at that. Good
