2010 Shottesbrooke Estate Shiraz

A solid commercial release from Shottesbrooke and the price isn’t overly aspirational. I’ve got the Cabernet and Single Vineyard Shiraz here to taste later this week. From what I’ve heard, that’s where the real action will be.

Confected red fruits; strawberry over raspberry. Licorice and mint. Oak is measured, adding choc/vanilla flavours. It’s a touch too sweet and cordial-like for my tastes but no doubt many punters will like it for just those reasons. And there is drying tannin here. It becomes more apparent with time and certainly lends the wine a helping hand. Average – Good

Packaging has a certain visual appeal too. At the price (and probably cheaper in multiples) can see how it would sell.

  2. Yes, new packaging a plus. Did improve this morning too – more form.

Glad it looked better on day 2 Jeremy, sweet and cordial like is certainly not what we aim for or are known for for that matter..
