A fair number of good Australian Chardonnay around the $20 price point these days but none of them have quite as much character as Madame Chard. Be prepared to be taken on a ride.
A funky, briney and nutty layer over fresh and energetic mandarin and nectarine. Spicy and textured with a driving core of lemon. Nice leesy weight is achieved at a low level of alcohol without a feeling of clumsiness. No major green or hard characters although it’s clearly a result of a cool year and cool climate regions. It is tangy with some wet pebbles through the back-end. Love its sense of style. Very Good
