Yo, Hoddles Creek finally has a website! They probably don’t even need it to sell wines this good at this price point, but hey, it’s great to see. Bottle shots are already available and I hear tech specs are on the way – which pleases wine nerds like me.
” Spends 6 months longer in oak than the standard label, has approx 35% new oak”
I loved the structure and form of the 2010 standard Pinot Noir but I love it even more in this 1er. Superbly balanced acidity with appropriately assertive and slightly muscular tannin…exemplary structure. Correspondingly, the flavours flow with precision and aplomb. Savoury and pippy, dominated by red fruit with fleeting blue highlights and a solid base of stone and forest floor. Florals pretty up the picture.
Continued to unravel beautifully over three days, throwing up different nuances with each glass. Frighteningly difficult to keep your hands off now but the real rewards will come with cellaring. I believe it’s sold out ex-winery but you might have some luck at retail if you’re lucky. It’s worth the hunt. Excellent – Exceptional

A visit to vu de mond and a bottle of your pinot noir brilliant wine XX
Best Yarra Pinot of the vintage for me (from what I’ve tasted obviously). “Wow” stuff.

FYI you can still get this at the Wine Experience in Rosalie (although as usual they mark it up a bit).
That’s interesting Paul. Probably still worthwhile even with the mark up. There do seem to be a few very good older-release bottles sitting on those Wine Experience shelves at times. Useful for retail shoppers/wine hunters.
