2010 Tarrawarra Reserve Pinot Noir

Another lovely Australian Pinot. Seems we’re really beginning to get a handle on the fickle grape. This one’s more for the long haul. It’s best days are a way off yet. Still, the quality is clear.

Undergrowth and smoke alongside dark cherry and raspberry. Fruit flavour is bound up in structure as a young wine but damn, there’s some potential here. Oak is slightly vanillin and nutty and it enhances the textural qualities. Length and intensity are hard to fault. Not too heavy, not too light. I wouldn’t call it ethereal but it has that Yarra nimbleness to it. Excellent

Yarra Valley “nimbleness”. A good description of what I think I like about the wines too. Good call.
