2009 Derwent Estate Pinot Noir

Plenty of depth, weight and complexity on show here in this Derwent Pinot. It’s certainly styled in a manner that pleases me.

Dark cherries and plums bloom from the glass along with cedary oak and cola/cinnamon spice. There’s a real earthen aspect to this wine – quite different to the ‘forest floor’ found in many Pinot Noirs. The acidity is initially very bright but settles into the flavours well with just a little time. It’s the main structural element and it performs its job well. Layered and more and more savoury as it move through its line. Well priced for all of these attributes. Very Good – Excellent
