I’ve got a whole bunch of d’Arenberg reviews to get up on site but I’d like to start with this one as it was such a pleasant surprise. I wasn’t expecting so much freshness from a three-year old Viognier. It seems a synergy exists between the region and the variety.
The nose is of intense orange blossom, musk, apricot (fresh and dried) and ginger. The palate follows suit but a lively burst of acidity provides a great frame off which the flavours hang. It’s textural but not oily or fat. Great value at twenty bucks. Very Good
