2010 Red Claw Chardonnay

If you’re not a big fan of the more austere styles of Chardonnay now sweeping the country then this may well be the wine for you. It’s ready to go – no need to whack this in the cellar and let it build. Just crack a bottle and it’ll start the conversation. Chatty little number.

Full of nectarines and apples with some butterscotch oak framing it. Plenty of fruit flavour but not a great deal of depth to that flavour. There’s a suggestion of herbs but I can’t identify them individually. This leans towards fruit sweetness anyway. Basically it’s very classy weekday Chardonnay at a good price. Drink it while you’re waiting for your Yabby Lake single vineyards/blocks to reach their peak. Good – Very Good
