2008 Zema Cluny

This is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. I like the fact that it’s released at four years of age and I enjoyed the wine all up. Much better than the last Cluny I tasted (2006).

It’s rustic as Zema wines often are. That character works a treat here. Orange accented acidity leads into orange peel, red berries and a ferrous, rusty note. It’s dusty and a little earthy with a pleasing pinch of dark pouch tobacco. Long grained tannin. Chocolate oak is well applied and black olives add further complexity. A bit of salami and spice on the back-end. Lacks some length but otherwise I was happy with this. Very Good
