2010 Coriole Barbera

These current release Coriole Italians are an impressive bunch. The Barbera is every bit as good as the Sangiovese and almost the equal of the Fiano. What’s more, Barbera doesn’t seem to be as hip as other varieties that hail from the boot. Suits me just fine.

Medium bodied and fruit sweet on a cherried entry, it begins to move in a savoury direction thereafter. A ribbon like flow in the mouth leads to cursory chalky tannin and positive, dried herb bitterness on exit. Pitch, spice and salted chocolate all make an appearance along the way. Given air, it begins to throw out some lavender and McLaren Vale blueberry. An animated acid structure should hold it in good stead over the medium term. Slosh it in the decanter for now. Very Good
