One of the reasons that I’m not that keen on reviewing a lot of Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs on this site is that there’s nothing to say about them hasn’t already been said. It makes opening paragraphs like this that much harder to write.
Straight from the bottle there’s a little bit of passionfruit in syrup. Fortunately it blows off almost immediately, leaving fresh gooseberry, pea pod, grass and herbs. No problems with typicité then…Flavour wise, it has a pleasingly tart line of acidity running through some rounder, sweeter tropical dimensions. Credible dry length, well composed. More than enough ticks to justify its shelf price. If you like a straight up and down representation of the regional style then I doubt you’ll be disappointed. Good – Very Good
