If you will allow me to generalise, the 2010 vintage was a ripper in McLaren Vale. The more I see of it, the more impressed I am. Particularly with the reds.
Plum and chocolate licorice bullets punctuated by vivid raspberry and cinnamon dusted blue fruit. There’s a real sense of freshness balancing the regional generosity and the framework also impresses; a nice line of acid and pleasing chalky tannin. Well seasoned with nutmeg, pepper and a good dose of mocha oak. Perhaps there’s a little too much salt clinging to the rim, so to speak, but otherwise it’s an absolute pleasure to drink.
This ain’t no fruit bomb. Very Good – Excellent
