Yes, I drink Pinot Gris. Yes, I am happy to pay over $30 for it if it’s good enough. This one is. Get over it. Paul Scorpo owns the vineyard, Sandro Mosele helps out with the winemaking. Go team!!!
A complex nose of nashi pear, almond skin, orange and olive oil, fresh pineapple and lychee with a little caramel. Loquacious and engaging, slippery rather than greasy with nuts, bitter pith and lemon citrus keeping the natural sweetness under control. There’s (ginger) spice and a bit of grip near the end. Mouth filling and balanced by gentle, tingling acidity. It doesn’t shy away from varietal expression and it’s all the better for it. Pass the roast pork please. Very Good – Excellent

We stock this at work and I’m definitely getting a bottle after reading yours and Campbell’s reviews.
Slightly different descriptors in our reviews but the same overall impression I think. Of those I’ve tasted during the past year, this and the 2010 Curly Flat Pinot Gris have been the stand out Australian examples of the variety. Tim Adams 2010 release is up there too. A little more residual sugar apparent in that one.
