McLaren Vale 4.5% Crown Seal 500ml $18.00
I do like a dirty Moscato in the morning. Throw in some pancakes and you have a classy start to a festive season’s day. For that matter, make sure you have another in the fridge chilled and ready for brunch.
Do you review a wine like this in the same way as you review ‘serious’ wine? Does it warrant intense investigation? Should its relative lack of complexity work against it, or is that part of its charm?
Well, truth be told, I don’t much care. I like sparkling Moscato in summer and this is a goodun. It’s frivolous, fun and, unlike Champagne or Sparkling breakfasts, it generally means I won’t be pissed by lunch time (umm, that’s a good thing).
It smells and tastes of strawberries and rose water with a pink musk stick or two.The acidity balances the sweetness and although it doesn’t finish dry, it does finish refreshing. I was left thinking of the words of the great man, William S. Burroughs in “Naked Lunch” – Kid, it was tasty…

Rate it anyway I say. The best Moscato still deserves high points. It's all in the drinking enjoyment I think.
