2009 Frankland River Cleanskin Riesling

Frankland River 12.5% Screwcap $12.99 Source: Sample

A bracket of three Rieslings, tasted side by side, coming straight at you from WWEI, where we work on Sundays (whilst watching The Ashes). This is the last of the cleanskin reviews from Wine Experience and it’s a seriously good Riesling at a very low price. If you want to cellar a Riesling but are low on funds then I’d strongly suggest having a look at this. It’s going to age very well.

A very slight spritz exhibits in the glass. The nose is of lemons, pears and limes with bit of talc. The palate follows suit, adding some interesting herbal nuances. The more upfront fruit flavours flow, by the way of precise acidity, into a finish that is extremely chalky and extremely dry.

With the right food and a warm day, it works very well now but I’d consider stashing a few away. I reckon this one is only going to get better for a long time yet.
