Another off-dry success from Australia, this one is sourced from 28 year old vines near Drumborg. 14g/l rs, 12g/l TA. Some lees stirring too.
A veritable carnival of citrus on the nose and palate; orange blossom and zest, mandarin and tangerine. Just a hint of sweetness to go with plenty of tang. Great balance and mineral thrust. Still manages to maintain a sense of roundness in the mouth and some depth. I’m thinking the lees is playing an important role here.
The finish is excellent, taking the flavour profile towards limes, green apples & apricot kernels. Quite a unique style, although clearly influenced by German wines. Full of both character and quality.

Totally agree on the citrus components, and Im pretty sure some lees stirring action did go on. Plus the fact its fermented in old oak probably helped give some textural elements.
Loving that textural component in Riesling at the moment. The 2009 Jamsheed Great Western was a stop and catch your breath wine for me last year.
