So, onto a couple of Dutschkes that weren’t quite my cup of tea. Not bad wines though, especially factoring in price…
38% Shiraz, 33% Merlot and 29% Cabernet (which, strangely enough, adds up to 100%) it has far more savoury notes than any other Dutschke red I’ve tried. And that’s what I’d hope, given the addition of Merlot & Cabernet.
Red berries, briary fruit and some leafy, olive stuff. Roasted root vegies too. That’s all fine by me, but the tannins are just a touch prominent and out of whack. They come in early and detract from the wine.
Still, not a bad result from the vintage and it all works better with food.
