2005 Pewsey Vale Gewürztraminer

Eden Valley 14.5% Screwcap $28

I’ll not be posting any old tasting notes from here on in. Too much to write up and other things I want to do. If you read a TN on this site, it will have been tasted within the last week. To the wine.

Gold, yellow and green colours reminded me in a strange way of the old 80s One Day Cricket outfits Australia used to wear. The wine’s developed and it’s drink up time now I reckon. But there is much pleasure to be had here if you don’t mind a bit of body in a white and enjoy spiciness. And this is hella spicy.

Lychees, pink musk sticks, Turkish delight, mangoes and some citrus. The full flavours are still defined soundly enough by a thread of acidity and that fore mentioned loud and fun spice. The finish is very long and I liked the wine a lot. Won’t be every one’s cup of tea though. Fine by me, diversity being good in my books and all that.

Grab some Thai and indulge yourself a little.

I loved those One Day Cricket uniforms.

  2. Jeremy Pringle says:

So much classier than the modern day uniforms. I've even a soft spot for the 80s NZ two colours of shit brown ones :)

  3. Julian says:

OMG I loved those ones too. I used to collect the McDonald's team posters with that year's competitors in the Benson and Hedges Cup. Wow, I have not thought of that for a long time :)

  4. Jeremy Pringle says:

Dear me, I did too. We are *so* old!

  5. Julian says:

    Well, old enough :)
