Part of the Scarce Earth collection of Shiraz wines. Quite a vineyard it is too. A sandy, north-facing slope with that Blewitt Springs altitude and wind broken by a line of gum trees at the very top. The perfect place from which birds can launch their aerial assaults on the fruit each year…
A dash of white pepper. Lighter and more linear than many a Vale Shiraz. Mulberry, blue florals, red licorice and cherries. Purity and clarity. Silky in the mouth. Tannins have a chalky mouth-coating quality and a little crunch. As with all these 2012s, dense through the mid-palate but the structural enunciation leads to a sense of precision. 92+
