Once again, the same 70 odd year-old vineyard in Krondorf at the heart of the Barossa has been utilised for the Head Wines Old Vine Grenache and to great effect.
Forget your raspberry beret and be done with the idea of confection. This is red fruited, yes, but even as a young wine it’s earthy, meaty, dusty and latently primal. Fine acidity and silty tannin is intricately knitted through the palate. The aftertaste lingers long on dried herbs and a strong note of pastis. 95
