Perfumed, forward and flavoursome. 20% whole bunches with the rest whole berries. The grapes come from five estate vineyards in the Dixons Creek area of the Yarra Valley with all vines over twenty years of age.
Macerated and sour cherries, sweet black raspberries. Some red floral notes. Herbal and twiggy characters lurk below on both the palate and the nose. Nutmeg and warm spice. The tannins are dense and rounded, perfectly at home within the more generous surrounds produced by the season. Not one for the cellar I wouldn’t think. 90/91 pointish for me. I’ll go the latter as so many consumers seek immediate gratification. 91
