2012 Yarnbomb by Corinna Wright McLaren Vale Shiraz

imageYarnbombing – a type of graffiti or street art that employs colourful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fibre rather than paint or chalk. Also referred to as guerrilla knitting. Oliver’s Taranga winemaker Corinna Wright makes reference to letting “her inner nanny out”. I like the name and I like the wine.

All the seduction of good McLaren Vale Shiraz with a touch of finesse. A harmonious package of purple and black fruits, milk chocolate, licorice and sensibly pitched malty oak. Full and rounded in the mouth but this isn’t a sledgehammer. Holds its shape well and finishes with plump tannin. Balanced, affable, intelligent and tasty. 92
