There’s a distinct lack of coverage when it comes to Stefano Lubiana on WWEI. I wish that wasn’t the case. Grapes come from a biodynamically tended vineyard overlooking the Derwent River in southern Tasmania
Adroit lees work impresses, adding a savoury, nutty layer to very forward fruit. Syrupy peaches and poached pears with a pronounced note of preserved lemon. Certainly ripe yet lacks real intensity and reach. The acidity teases – minerally and clean, I long for it have a more emphatic presence. Oak input is minimal. Finishes a little too warm and with a touch of bitterness. I can’t help but wish that the grapes were picked earlier. 89
