Luke Lambert continues chalking up the runs with these new wines. This is superior to last year’s inaugural Chardonnay. It comes from a vineyard in the Upper Yarra near Gembrook.
Don’t expect anything fruity. It’s precise and extremely textural – not always a likely Quinella. Quite creamy, a little mealy with an underlying flinty focus and a friendly phenolic handshake. Under the savoury veil you might find nectarine and key lime pie before lingering notes of wheat-bix and pickled ginger. It just kept growing on me. 93

Second bottle. Even more wheat germ/wheat-bix. Really fond of this wine. Four bottles left. Will wait a while before opening the next.
