2013 Yelland & Papps Second Take Grenache

imageA lot of positivity around Grenache from the Barossa in 2013. This is my first look at an example and it doesn’t disappoint.

Smells and tastes of Play doh, redcurrants, cherries and pressed and/or wilted flowers. The odd mulberry peak. Nothing confected but certainly some fruit sweetness. Wholemeal bread, red dirt, marzipan, salted licorice with both warm and sweet spice. Well structured with plenty of sandy tannin. Not a polished Grenache and I wouldn’t want it any other way. 94
