An excellent result from the rain plagued 2011 McLaren Vale vintage. Michael Lane’s attention to detail in the vineyard alongside Peter Fraser’s meticulous work in the winery has really paid dividends. And the grape sorting machine at Yangarra has to be seen to be believed.
Medium-bodied and loaded up with peppery spice. Mulberry and raspberry fruits, damp earth, licorice, an attractive savoury mulchy character and some tobacco. Acidity sits comfortably within the wine. The sample bottle doesn’t have an ABV on it but the tannin is ripe. No grubby fruit to be seen. Good energy here. 91
