2013 Snake + Herring Perfect Day Sauvignon Blanc Semillon

snake herring sauvignon blanc semI tried to slip a Lou Reed reference into a recent feature for a national wine magazine. It didn’t make it. Probably a wise move from the editorial team given that the lyric dealt with the subject of amphetamines. A blend of 83% Sauvignon Blanc and 17% Semillon from the Karridale subregion towards the south of the Margaret River GI. Wild yeast fermented, 32% in barrel. Aged on lees for six months.

Plenty of solids derived intrigue with more than enough fruit presence to balance it. Gooseberry, lemon and herb profile. Punchy acidity cuts through textural nuance. Pretty good minerally reach too. I rather enjoyed this. 90
