2012 RK Chardonnay

rk chardonnayFor those of us who can’t afford or are unwilling to shell out the $150 RRP for a Giaconda Chardonnay…RK, of course, standing for Rick Kinzbrunner. A Vintage Cellars exclusive.

I still don’t see this as worth the money. There is a syrupy dimension to the fruit that puts me off along with a touch of bitterness and a question mark over length. Buttery texture. Yellow peach, toast, pineapple, caramel and oatmeal. Roasted cashews and woodspice. A hefty chunk of oak although the flavours are powerful enough to keep up. Others may like it more than I. 89

  1. Always been priced twice what it is worth, which is surprising given just how good the Giaconda is…

  2. Yep, I enjoy the Giaconda…when someone else is buying ;) This is an odd wine in many ways.
