2011 Château de Fesles La Chapelle Vieilles Vignes Cabernet Franc

chateau-de-fesles-anjou-vieilles-vignesWhile I’ll still generally opt for a Chinon when I’m out and about, there’s been a few Anjou Cabernet Francs that have taken my fancy of late. This is right up there. Imported by Franc About Wine.

Smells great. All falling leaves, brown grass, green peppercorns, herbs and tiny red berries. Enticing vitality, medium-bodied spicy allure. Can’t pick up much in the way of barrel work. Flat out sessionable. Stalky textured tannin but not in an under-ripe way. 91

Region: Anjou, Loire Valley

  1. Craig says:

Mmm. Bit partial to cabernet franc. Nice to see a review.

  2. Nick Greer says:

Likewise. I’m also a Chinon man at times but this sounds interesting….

  3. Such an under-rated variety. Wish more crossed my path.
