Australian Pinot Gris. Lot 666. The number of the beast. Apt most of the time.
Muted aromatics. I suspect there’s some barrel work here adding texture but detracting from the overall fragrance. The palate is more forward if obvious in terms of flavour. Ripe brown pear, spice, praline and nougat. Has a bit of length. Pretty good. 87

Bought this at Bottlemart, Dulwich Hill for around $20. A beautiful Pinot Gris. That wonderful lemony colour that has a touch of bronze, very pale, that you might even think of as casting into pink. A pear smell. Delicious in the mouth: a light orange fizz. Smooth, soft, and lingering. Has a beautifully elegant label of black, white and gold, with the year in its last two numbers as if burnt into a fence post (next to a vine). (The winemaking couple, Duncan and Amber, has an inner-western Sydney address of Enmore. but the vineyard is based in the Orange/Mudgee area, western NSW.)
Oh, my comments refer to the 2012.
